Ask Friends and Family

Don’t hesitate to ask your friends and family for advice and recommendations about finding a job!  Most people find the job they want through a recommendation from someone they know.

Use the Internet

Use the Internet to help you find jobs, connect with employers, improve your resume, get career advice and more.  The most popular websites for finding a job include:

  • Dice – Specialize in finance, technology, and health care jobs
  • Monster – Broadbased, deep in resumes
  • Career Builder – Tops in U.S. revenue and web traffic; good search engine
  • HotJobs – New ‘pay-per-performance” system
  • TheLadders – Specialize in jobs paying $100K USD and up
  • LinkedIn – Good if you already have a job.

Read the Newspaper

Check the “classifieds” section of your local newspaper for a list of jobs, particularly craigslist.
